Jehoagie! ROFLOL - and pass me the tums for today and ex-lax for tomorrow! Was there any pudding with that?

well, i just got back from yet another summer ass-marathon.
seventeen hours of sitting in hockey arena seats that were made for three hour games, trying to stay awake, while not losing contact with my extremities.. needless to say, the program was dull and boring.
in fact, i'm not completely sure that they didnt just re-run last year's.

okay everyone ... here are some highlights from this weekend's brci conference held in itasca, illinois, close to chicago o'hare airport.
it was two full days, from friday at 9:00 am to 7:00 pm and sat.
9:00 am to 9:00 pm.
Thanks for sharing. Although we have not been able to attend BRCI Conference we hear how refreshing they are. We have participated in a smaller Bible research group and had joy of meeting Peter Gregerson - what a kind man. Would have enjoyed hearing him again. It is so healing to meet together with others recovering from WT. For now we appreciate having this forum to connect with others on our road to recovery.

i will spare you all the gory details until she is ready to post them.
my mom (mulan) is having trouble with my grandma again.
looks like this time she has finally burned her last available bridge and will be moving out.
Here's a link to the University of Washington Alzheimer Disease Research center website:
http://depts.washington.edu/adrcweb/
The website has general information on Alzheimer's and other types of dementia. There is also information for caregivers on self-care, managing stress, etc. Hope you find this helpful.

My heart goes out to you. You are have done the noble, loving thing by having your mom live with you. There comes a point where letting her go live somewhere else is the healthiest choice for her and for you. Don't buy the ticket for the guilt trip - you've done your best!

i just found out that my car insurance will not be renwed next month because my agent is no longer with that company.
so now i'm shopping around for some and was wondering if anyone knew of some good sites or plans that could help me out.
i'm in fl btw if that helps any!.
Oooo - been there done that with trying to find car insurance. We've got Safeco, but have friends who got cancelled with one late payment. Not a good thing. The oldest Rockster isn't driving right now because her insurance doubled from last year. Since she is only home 3 months of the year, the rest of the time living where she can ride a bus, she decided it would be better to drop the insurance. Not an option for everyone, probably not you Ven. There have been lots of ads for GEICO around here. Don't know if they are in Florida.
Another option, if you have AAA (American Automobile Association), they have special deals for their members. Might be something to look in to - membership isn't expensive, lots of cool perks (travel service, discount car rental, flat fixes, AAA Plus has free towing up to 100 miles). With all the traveling you do that might be a good place to start!
Hope this helps!

last saturday, a former ministerial servant and pioneer committed suicide in the woodinville washington kingdom hall parking lot.
he was disfellowshipped several years ago, and according to the old sister that related the story to me today, he was depressed because no one would talk to him.
i don't know how i kept calm when she explained to me that "we couldn't talk to him...he was disfellowshipped.".
Hello armchair_detective,
Your post reminded me of how easy it is for rank and file to easily dismiss what they see as weaker ones. Makes me think of James 2:1-4: "My brothers you are not holding the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, our glory with acts of favoritism, are you? For if a man with gold rings on his fingers and in splendid clothing enters into a gathering of you but a poor man in filthy clothing also enters yet you look with favor upon the one wearing the splendid clothing and say: "You take this seat here in a fine place" and you say to the poor one: "You keep standing," or: "Take that seat there under my footstool" you have class distinctions among yourselfs and you have become judges rendering wicked decisions, is that not so?" Wicked to the core. How can they ignore the damage they do when this shunning results in so many deaths? IMHO they really do not understand what self-sacrificing love is.

Regarding suicide statistics in the WTS. The statistical results will be somewhat lower than the rest of the population because many suicides occur in the one who have been DFd, no longer counted in WTS statistics. More telling would be the rate of suicides amongst those who have been DFd.
Disfellowshipping/shunning, according to WT theology, is supposed to encourage the sinner to repent. WT needs to get their heads out of the sand and see that it does not accomplish this. JWs do not develop normal emotional responses....the guilt and worthlessness are drummed into rank and file so much that when they make a mistake the emotions are too great to handle.
My heart goes out to all who suffer from depression and overwhelming feelings of worthlessness. To those who have never been there, you don't want to go there. It's not an easy place to escape. But do try to have some compassion..."life is a journey, not a destination." Wouldn't it be better if we could help each other along the way?
